october 2024 cyber security awareness month secure our world

Here at Galva CUSD #224, we take Cybersecurity seriously. Every day we work to keep our students and staff safe from cyber attacks. There are things that everyone can do to help protect themselves from a cyberattack.

Since 2004, the President of the United States and Congress have declared October to be Cybersecurity Awareness Month, time dedicated for the public and private sectors to work together to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.

Tips for keeping your information secure:

  1. Use Strong Passwords: Don’t use the same password for every account. Make sure to use a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols, or use a phrase. Did you know that Weak PASSWORDS are the most common way online criminals access accounts? Find out more here:  https://5il.co/2yjjn

  2. Recognize and Report Phishing. If something looks suspicious. Mark it as phishing or spam in your email, and send Mrs. Norway an email to let her know. Find out more here:  https://5il.co/2yjiq

  3. Turn On MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)
