Cast Spotlight #1
First we are going to spotlight our youngest cast members! Addie Boston and Ellory McDonald are playing the role of Young Fiona. Locked in the tower when she was only seven years old, Young Princess Fiona has only her dolls to talk to and her books to keep her entertained---and what's that sound? A dragon! Oh no, how will she ever survive ? Ellory will perform as Young Fiona on Friday and Addie will perform on Saturday. When not in character as the Princess, the girls are in the ensemble as fairy tale characters.
Other elementary actors include Jacob Boston as Young Shrek and the Frog Prince, Libertyann Clemons as Fairy Godmother, and Knox Glaser as Bluebird and Scarecrow.
Galva Drama Club's Shrek the Musical is on March 7th & 8th at 7pm. Tickets are $10 at the door. We will have t-shirts and chocolates with character trading cards inside on sale! (while supplies last).

Cast Spotlight #2: Our Newcomers
In Drama Club we always say that Theater Kids are the Best Kids! And here's the "secret"---anyone can be a theater kid. What we often hear from our current and alum members is that Drama Club is the place where they become friends with people that they wouldn't have gotten to know otherwise. Techy kids become friends with sporty kids, artsy kids become friends with scienc-y kids, kids in different grades get to know each other and find out that they have a lot in common. Country, town, academic, athletic, or avant garde---boundaries that sometimes exist are removed and life-long bonds are created.
All while developing transferable skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, problem solving, time management, adaptability, listening, empathy, resilience...
One of our actors who challenged their comfort level by trying the theater for the first time is sophomore Bryant Jeffrey. A veteran athlete in sports as varied as football, cross country, and swim team (Go Krakens!), and activities like robotics and Scholastic Bowl, Bryant took the plunge and decided to audition for the musical at the last minute. His risk paid off and he is enjoying his time as the Big Bad Wolf, Lord Farquaad's personal assistant Thelonious, and an unlucky sop chained up in the Dragon's keep. He appreciates learning more about singing and getting to know new friends.
Alyvia Kelly is another sophomore firstie. Her powerhouse voice earned her the roles of the vivacious Dragon and protective Mama Bear. And where is Mama without her baby? Arabella Porsche is also making her first foray onto the stage and lighting it up as sassy Baby Bear and shining Blind Mouse. Sophomore Jayden Gabel is making her on-stage debut as the Wicked Witch, although two years ago she was the sound manager for Puffs!
