Our K-Kids were busy this week at their after school meeting. They were creating signs to support their latest service project. They will be collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House in Peoria. Our sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Olson and her family have been staying at the Ronald McDonald house while their baby Job, is a patient at the hospital. Way to go K-Kids!

Galva Events January 15, 2026

Today we host ROWVA/Williamsfield and Wethersfield in a Scholastic Bowl matchup at 4:00 PM at Galva Jr/Sr High School. Come see Scholastic Bowl compete!

Congratulations to these 13 fourth-graders who achieved their second quarter AR goals. Students were challenged to read a 1-point nonfiction book, earn 2 AR points in nonfiction, reach 85% correct on quizzes, read books within their individual levels, and reach their individual point goal. Way to go!!

Galva Athletics January 14, 2026 We host Knoxville. Go Cats!

Congratulations to both FS and Varsity Boys Basketball teams on victories over Wethersfield last night. Varsity won 78-58. Both levels have started conference play with two wins.

Tonight, our Varsity Girls host Knoxville at 6:00pm.

In social studies class today, the 8th graders reinforced their learning about different forms of governments by creating Gummy Bear Governments. Tomorrow, they will share their gummy bear scenes and discuss the government types.

Our Galva Drama Club workshopped with professional mimes, T. Daniel and Laurie Willets, who have over 50 years of international experience, primarily in Paris, France. Our actors learned strategies for bringing their characters alive using movement, breathing, and attitude. Come see our actors perform their new skills in the musical The Lightning Thief March 20th & 21st!

Mrs. Lucas' 1st graders are working on recognizing patterns in their math studies today, especially patterns in digits as they count.

Mrs. Walton recognized Ayla's willingness to step up and help even though it wasn't asked or expected of her. Ayla received a positive referral for doing things the Wildcat Way!

Liberty was recognized by Mrs. Walton with a positive referral for taking the initiative to help clean up a mess that she wasn't responsible for. Thanks for doing things the Wildcat Way!
